
BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from Alexandria, VA, Zoe Renelda McCray is a soprano residing in the DC area. Zoe will be making her Washington National Opera debut in the Fall 2025-Spring 2026 season. Equally as comfortable singing operatic repertoire as art song and spirituals, Zoe Renelda is the current First Place National Winner of the NATS American Negro Spirituals competition. She is a Musical Theatre Professor in the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts at Howard University in Washington, DC. Zoe Renelda is a Teaching Artist-in-Residence with the Washington Performing Arts Society via their Capital Arts DC Partnership. She is the newest soprano at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, where she sings weekly with the Cathedral Choir and the Contemporary Ensemble. Live streams of every service can be found on the Washington National Cathedral website. She also runs a small private virtual voice studio.
She received her Bachelor of Music from James Madison University, studying with Grammy Award-winning Baritone Kevin McMillan. Zoe is currently a member of the Elizabeth Daniels voice studio in Silver Spring, MD.
